I need to get work sorted into its various categories and serials! http://www.tornworld.net/fiction.php You can see that I've started, but oof! Lots left to do! Even the ones I've got made have some holes in them. If you've got an hour here or there, I'd love to let you create some categories, and go to town in populating them. Contact me, and I'll set you up at the site to create and edit them. It requires no real programming knowledge, but if you have the know-how to add simple html links, that would be awesome - I'm starting to drop in-line links to the articles everywhere I can think to. Let me know if you'd be interested in creating 'cover art' for these, too! Thanks! |

I can give it a go. If you want, I can try out doing Olarali's one (Perhaps the Carnal Guild section?) and if I utterly mess it up, not a lot of damage has been done?  I have some knowledge in HTML, but I work better off seeing what someone has done before hand to make it happen! |

When you edit an existing 'storyline', or create a new one, you'll have the following options: Title: Use a short, descriptive title or description for the genre or storytype you're creating. For example, Rails. Tainted Wings. Rai and Bai as Children. Stories: You get drop-downs! The page will show you any existing stories (if you're editing) or 10 blank spaces to select stories for. If you want to add more than 10, you certainly can, you just have to save the page (at the bottom), and go in and edit it - you'll get 10 more blank spaces then! A tip: click on the drop-down and start typing the name of the title you're looking for - when it's selected, press return. There are a lot to scroll through! Be a bit selective, and only include stories that are directly related to the storyline you're putting together... for example, if I'm collecting a storyline about Fala and Birka's age-set, and Birka has a story within that timeline that doesn't really relate to her age-set or include any of them, I'd leave that out. Someone who wants to read ALL about Birka can find those stories from her character sheet. Stories can be included in multiple storylines. Related Articles: This is optional, but might be useful! You can pick a few articles that *directly* key into this story collection. It's more useful as a reader if they are included in the description, but you can also include them here. (Time crystals, for the time crystal theme collection, for example, or the snow-unicorn article, if you're putting together a collection about snow-unicorns.) Upload Cover: Pick a cover image - this is optional. It must be a .jpg file, but can be any size. If it is over 500 pixels, it will be shrunk. If it is under, it won't be changed. A thumbnail will also be created. Short Description: This should be pretty brief, and will show up on the overview pages. Something like: Sea Monsters of Torn World rule the oceans. Or: A hunting adventure turns into a nightmare for two young rangers. Long Description: Background! Links to articles that might be helpful for the whole storyline! General notes! This can be as comprehensive as you'd like. To make links, use this code: <a href="linkyouwanttolinkto">Text you want underlined</a> within some larger sentence. For example: <a href="http://www.tornworld.net/settingpageview.php?id=28">Time crystals</a> are natural crystals that have the strange ability to flex the flow of time in a small area around them. These crystals have strange properties and are deadly to handle. At least... they are for most people! Time crystals are only found in the <a href="http://www.tornworld.net/settingpageview.php?id=25">Empire</a>; the <a href="http://www.tornworld.net/settingpageview.php?id=19">snow-unicorn riders</a> have no experience with them. Type: Finally, pick a sorting type. Storylines are serial stories (like Rails, or Tainted Wings) and closely related story clusters (like the Itadesh Fire plot). Genres would be generic subjects that may apply to otherwise unrelated stories (romance, intrigue, adventure, humor). Theme is a more specific item that relates stories to each other, though they may not have the same characters (time crystals, sea monsters, Others, politics). Muse is reserved for collections of Muse Fusions. And, storytype is the kind of writing. (flash fiction, drabble) Done? Save New Article, and you're in business! You can edit it once you've posted it, or even delete it, if you decide it's not working for you. (Please don't delete any of the ones already created.  )Some other coding you can use: Bulleted lists: <ul> <li>Something with a bullet. <li>Something else at the same level <ul><li>Something at an inner level! <li>Still at that inner level! Until we close that ul tag with one of these: </ul> <li>Now we're back at that outer level. <li>And we can add more tags <ul><li>Or even more indented lists <li>Like this one!</ul> </ul> I'll send interested editors a link to the administration page! |

Ok! I did the Tainted WIngs one. I think it all looks kinda cool! It doesn't show up on the main page, but when you click Browse storylines and serials. Can artwork be added under when you add a story? Or should there be a separate area to add art relating to the topic? |

Yay! I am trying to figure out how to add artwork, too - you'll note that I got articles added through the admin page, but they don't show up through the public page yet. I could do a drop-down, like I have with the others, but I wasn't sure if the titles would be descriptive enough to pick from. |

| Woo hoo! Some other topics I think we need: story type - short story?? story type - novelette (7500-17000 words)? Areluu and Lenarai Theme - gender issues in Torn World - Owlheart, Not just Firolk, Building a Home, Sea Wrack Kether, Kativa and Tolnam Theme - boundaries - Rocking at the Edge, Small Changes, Harp of Feathers s, Alainya and Barl - Draiden's Exploits? Neteilyu And more... I shall try to put together a few of these myself, but if anyone would like to grab one or two, I'd appreciate it! |

Whew! Okay, you guys can now 'watch' storylines. If you are logged in, the thumbnail versions of the storylines have little checkboxes you can pick. I will be adding them to the individual storyline pages as well. These don't actually send email alerts YET. But they will. |

Alright, most of these are together now - I think we can probably release this this week! Let me know if you see any glaring holes, or can think of any stories that ought to be in existing story collections! The watch feature SHOULD work now, but I will have to see once a new story gets added to one.

It would go even faster if I would stop thinking of NEW collections faster than I'm crossing them off of my list... Please do let me know if you spot any that I miss - we've got a LOT of stories to keep track of! |

I've changed 'written by' to 'creators' - that wasn't hard at all. Changing the order is a bit of a nightmare, the way the information is pulled out of the database. Creators still isn't ENTIRELY accurate, when patrons are listed. We could change that to 'contributors?' |
