Do we want to continue to offer spicy rated pieces ONLY to registered users? I could post them publicly, but make it so that you had to click on a link to see them. (With text like: 'The content of this story or poem has been rated 'spicy' and may not be suitable for general audiences. Click to read!')

Alternately, do we want to do that with adult work, too (with stronger language in the link)? Or continue to restrict that to registered readers??

Personally, I don't care what people choose to read. However, I don't make the laws. I'd check for legal restrictions and make the decision based on that -- which may, for example, make it reasonably safe to release spicy but not adult material at reader discretion even if they are unregistered. But if it's legally okay, then I'd say release both.

I like the idea of making both available to anyone as long as they click an "okay, I am over 18" link. Since I've been writing romance lately, I've been browsing around romance-related websites, and this seems to be commonly done on sites that sometimes post adult-rated material, without the additional step of readers needing to "prove" their age. (Edit: The last part might be unclear -- I mean that a lot of sites typically are willing to accept readers at their word as long as they click okay to a token age statement, as opposed to wanting them to provide biographical information.)

I don't know what the legal standing of it is, but the voluntary age statement seems to be accepted in common Internet usage. And for non-adults-only material, I can't see any problem at all.

Alrighty - I've made spicy things available without a registration, and I'm going to do a little legal research into what adult material entails. (I will be starting with my webhost, since I would NOT like to be kicked off my server for breaching THEIR terms.)
