Slang and Swearwords of Torn World - Language
Written By: Ellen Million (Writer), Deirdre / Wyld_Dandelyon (Developer), Elizabeth Barrette (Developer), Lorna (Comtessa) (Developer)
Using Torn Tongue and Torn World terms in fiction and metafiction for a richer world experience.

Some usual earth swearwords and slang are allowed, but adding occasional Torn Tongue words will spice up your writing and make it feel more anchored in the world. Modern earth slang (groovy, spiffy, yeah, cool, etc.) may be frowned on by the canon board, and we may suggest replacements, if it wrenches a reader out of the world and suggests modern earth a little too much.

We presume that many specific measurement references (such as miles or inches) have been translated from their Torn Tongue equivalents. However, there are a few quirks that should use Torn World terms, because the units do not translate directly, particularly some units of time.

When writing for Torn World, words that are Torn Tongue should be italicized, while English translations of words and phrases should not.
