Friendly Whispers   poem
Creators: Elizabeth Barrette (Writer), Kayleigh Webb (Patron), Ellen Million (Inspiration)
They say some people can hear ghosts.
Posted: 02/25/13      [1 Comment] ~ 79 words.

It's like a whisper of wind,
like a crackle of static.

It's there in the places
where the Ancients used to live.

If you can hear ghosts,
sometimes
they'll tell you where treasure lies.

Other times,
they'll just eat your spirit
and leave you mad.

Not all ghosts are evil, so they say.
Some of them are friendly.
The trick is telling which is which.

They say some people can hear ghosts,
but if they can,
they aren't talking.

Author's Notes

This poem came out of the October 4, 2011 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by a prompt from Ellen Million. It has been sponsored by Kayleigh Jones.

The Others are a major force in Torn World, but not everyone knows what they are. Without an understanding of their nature, people may speak of them as "ghosts," "angry spirits," or other explanations for the scary and confusing phenomena.
