The crew of the Honeybeam
fought valiantly against Death,
landing two harpoons
in the back of the beast's neck.

Author's Notes

This poem came out of the May 2013 Muse Fusion. It was inspired by an image prompt from Ellen Million showing a fight between a deathfin and a heat-thief.

While the deathfin and heat-thief populations live in widely separated areas, the fall of the barriers means that individuals may wander far and wide. Such encounters, while rare, are therefore possible.
