This story or poem is for logged in supporters only! Here is a short excerpt to whet your appetite:
Dorom himself hooked a salmonAuthor's Notes
and several different rockfish.
That filled the first basket,
so he carried it back to the beach.
Returning to the spit, he took up
his pole again and was about to cast
when he noticed something odd
about the pattern of the waves.
"Eyes on the water, everyone,
what do you see?" he said,
and they chattered responses.
Then Deterra said, "Do you feel that?
Kind of a ripple underfoot, like when
water pulls the sand away from you."
