Here is a short excerpt to whet your appetite: The three rangers spilled into the central house like sunlight, something Lenarai hadn't been outside to see all day. They were only days back from the summer gather, and it seemed like everything possible had gone wrong in the unpacking and storage. Rats had gotten into some of the dry stores, and one of the big endless soup pots had developed a crack during the summer cleaning. Very newly an adult, Lenarai was scrambling to figure out her new place in the hierarchy of the village. The other domestics seemed more comfortable with accepting her grown-up role than she was.
