Holly H.To be honest, I didn’t realize this journey would end in the Lichenwold! Mainly because in the only other story in which I’ve encountered it, the length of the journey was sort of skipped over, and thus the means of it didn’t make that much impression on me. At the time I didn’t imagine that the tunnel to it was THAT long, or that full of prolonged darkness and danger. You can be sure I won’t forget it now! I do love that it’s the end point of this story, since whatever the reader is expecting them to encounter at the other end of the tunnel, is isn’t a barren world of weird, fantastically huge lichen.

The other thing that slightly surprised me was that it seemed like Lenar’s group caught up with them much more quickly than I expected. I did figure they’d have started behind them pretty soon, but it almost felt like Lenar’s group made better time, or something. Hard to say. And I was also wrong about Tivikai’s reaction! ;-) Looks like that gamble worked, after all. I do like that Lenar gave them punishments that are very well tailored to each of them.

All in all, a fun story that filled in a really key piece of Northern history!
